Created by Tysons Community Alliance (TCA), the Tysons Trek & Treat Challenge is a seasonal walk, bike, and roll challenge that invites community members of all ages to explore Tysons’ walkable and bike-friendly routes while earning points for prizes. Participants check in at designated locations using their phones to collect points that can be redeemed for fun gear and gift cards, creating an engaging and interactive way to discover everything Tysons has to offer while promoting active transportation and healthy lifestyles.

2026 Tysons Trek & Treat Spring Challenge Inspires Nearly 500 Sustainable Trips Across Tysons

In May 2026, hundreds of residents, workers, and visitors took on the Tysons Trek & Treat Spring Challenge during National Bike Month, proving that small transportation choices can make a big difference.

Led by TCA and powered by the ConnectingVA app, the four-week challenge encouraged participants to swap car trips for walking, biking, transit, and other sustainable transportation options throughout May. By choosing active and environmentally friendly ways to get around, participants helped demonstrate how Tysons is becoming a healthier, more connected, and more multimodal community.

Building a More Connected Tysons

The challenge is part of TCA’s ongoing efforts to encourage transportation choices that support a more accessible, sustainable, and vibrant Tysons. As the community continues to evolve, initiatives like Trek & Treat help demonstrate how multimodal transportation can improve quality of life while reducing environmental impacts and supporting healthier lifestyles.

The challenge also highlighted the growing enthusiasm for alternative transportation options among people who live, work, and visit Tysons.

Meet Our Spring 2026 Winners!

Throughout the challenge, participants had opportunities to win weekly prizes and compete for grand prizes, including several Velotric e-bikes.

One of the most exciting outcomes of this year’s challenge? None of the five e-bike winners already owned an e-bike, meaning each prize has the potential to inspire even more sustainable trips in the future.

Among the winners:

To help kick off the Trek & Treat Spring Challenge, TCA awarded several early participants with brand-new Velotric Fold One Plus e-bikes, rewarding those who registered early and helping build excitement for the challenge from day one. Among the lucky winners was Dhruvil, and both riders are now ready to explore Tysons on two wheels while logging miles throughout the challenge.

Tejal, a familiar face at TCA events, already walks to work every day and rarely uses her car. She is excited to add an e-bike to her transportation options and continue making sustainable choices.

Rachel discovered the challenge during Bike to Work Day and regularly commutes from Annandale. Her new e-bike will help her choose safer biking routes and increase the number of days she commutes by bike, reducing congestion and making her commute more enjoyable.

Sara, the Grand Prize winner, is already living car-free and has relied on Capital Bikeshare for her daily transportation needs. Her new e-bike will provide even greater flexibility and convenience as she continues embracing an eco-friendly lifestyle.

Looking Ahead

The success of the 2026 Tysons Trek & Treat Spring Challenge demonstrates the community’s growing commitment to active transportation and sustainability. TCA is grateful to everyone who participated and helped showcase the positive impact that walking, biking, and transit can have on our community.

Together, we’re helping create a more connected, healthier, and resilient Tysons—one trip at a time.

Stay tuned for future challenges and opportunities to explore Tysons in new ways.
